1st day

Morning in Chinon. Visit of the old city, of the castle and of the wine museum.
Lunch on the spot.
In the afternoon, on the way to Fontevraud (30 km South-East of Chinon) following D749, D751 to visit the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, real monastic city build in the 10th century which houses the polychrome recumbent effigies of Richard the Lion-hearted, Aliénor d'Aquitaine and Henri II Plantagenet. End of the afternoon, walk in the Fontevraud forest. Return to Chinon.

End of the afternoon, on the way to Bourgueil (30 km) following D7 up to Lignière-de-Touraine, D57 and D35 up to Bourgueil to visit cellars.

3nd day

Morning, visit of Candes-Saint-Martin (16 km East of Chinon following D751) one of the most beautiful villages in France ; Saint-Martin died there and was buried in secret. The church stained-glass-windows represent the transfer of his body to Tours.
Lunch on the spot.
In the afternoon, on the way to Saumur following D947 (11 km) visit of the city and the castel. Visit of the Cadre Noir, National Riding School, coming from the academy set up in 1767. In summer you can attend a training session and their spectacular show. Information: +33.(0)2.41.53.50.60.
End of the afternoon, return to Chinon via Montsoreau (on the D145 on the way to Chinon). Visit of the city and castel, which housed in the 16th century Count Montsoreau whose wife inspired Dumas' novel "The Lady of Montsoreau".
