To go from Paris to Amboise

By car: Follow highway A10 until the Château-Renault Amboise exit (210 km). Information Cofiroute

By train : TGV departure Paris Montparnasse Station, arrival Tours St. Pierre-des Corps-Station (1 hour). Information: SNCF





1st day

Departure from Amboise, one of the most old and alive city of the Val de Loire (east of Tours). Visit of the royal castel of Amboise, build in the 15th and 16th centuries on Charles VIII, Louis XII and François 1st orders, and panoramic gardens overhanging the city. Lunch on the spot.

Afternoon, visit of the old city.

In the end of the afternoon, return to Amboise to attend the marvelous Son et Lumière show at the castel.

2nd day

  • On the way to Chambord (52 km). Via N152, follow the Loire up to Blois (34 km), take the D951 up to Montlivault and then follow the D84 up to Chambord.

    Morning, visit of the greatest, the most famous and fascinating castel of the Loire which still keeps some of its mysteries, more than 4 centuries after its building.
    Lunch in Chambord (the 5440 hectares estate propose large picnic areas).
    In the afternoon, visit of the park (the biggest enclosed forestry park of Europe) and a walk (3 footpaths on 8 km), a ride on bridleways or by calash in the parc (information: +33.(0)2.54.50.50.02).
    End of the afternoon, return to Blois.
    Dinner and Son et Lumière at the Blois castel.
    Night in Amboise.

    3rd day

    Morning in Amboise, visit of the Clos Lucé manor, famous for being the last house of Leonardo de Vinci. Information: +33.(0)2.47.57.62.88.
    Lunch on the spot then visit of the Aquarium of Touraine located in Lussault-sur-Loire close to Amboise. Information: +33.(0)2.47.23.44.44.
    End of the Afternoon, on the way to Tours following the N152 (24 km) going via Vouvray (cellars sites).
    Dinner in the old city. Night on the spot.

    4th day

  • Visit of Tours: old city, cathedral, St Martin basilica, Historial de Touraine, fine arts museum, companionship museum... Walk on the banks of the Loire, shopping...

    5th day

    Morning on the way to Villandry (D7 - 25 km) to visit the Renaissance gardens of the Villandry castel, particularly famous for their ornamental vegetables. Information: +33.(0)2.47.50.02.09.
    End of the morning, on the way to Chinon following D7 and D57 via Azay-le-Rideau and D751 through the Chinon forest. Lunch in Chinon.
    Afternoon, walk in the old city, visit of the Wine Museum and the Chinon castel, where the famous Knights Templar trial took place.
    End of the afternoon, visit of one of the numerous cellars you will discover on the area roads.
