For the past 150 years, Villaines-les-Rochers has been the center for wicker work in France, representing more than two thirds of the national production.

The farinaceous soil in the Indre valley, together with the mild, humid climate, and the many caves, make it a perfect area for wicker growing and basket making.

Today, more than 100 basket makers practice their art in workshops, some of which are located in cave houses.

This unique know-how and authentic basket making experience are a guarantee of quality. 
 

 Authentic Villaines

Wicker is a very flexible product that can be used to make many things, from fruit baskets to baskets for hot air balloons.

The wicker production at Villaines is mainly positioned in a market for bakeries, store equipment, hotels, restaurants and decoration.

 Villaines Design

When used with other materials, such as fabrics, metal or leather, wicker is a fine material to use for furniture, and products are made for leading brands, which are exported to the entire world.

The wicker exhibit is open all year round from Monday through Saturday: 9 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 7 pm
Sundays and holidays:
- April 1 to October 15: 10 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 7 pm
- October 16 to March 31: 2 pm to 7 pm
In July and August it is open all day, from 9 am to 7 pm

Villaines-les-Rochers is in the Indre-et-Loire 7 km southeast of Azay-Le-Rideau.
From Tours, take the D751 to Azay-Le-Rideau (23 km) then the D57 to Villaines (7 km).
